Last day of the cricket season

[Somerset]

Tomorrow is the last day of the domestic cricket season. Somerset are playing here at Nottingham. Things looked good for both teams pre-season, so I arranged for family to come up for what we hoped would be the title decider. In reality both teams have been poor and I feared it could be a relegation decider: but Derbyshire managed to be totally useless in their final game, so by lunch today we were safe.

Somerset is the only team not to have won the County Championship - may be next year.

My uncle lived in Taunton and his house was in the same street as the county cricket ground. My uncle has since passed away but about 4 years ago we were on holiday in Devon and my youngest son and I went to see Somerset play Yorkshire. Can't remember who won but it was the team in white!

Some kids in my neighborhood have been playing cricket. No kidding!
