Learning to Play the Guitar

I would save some money and get a Takamine. But as for me I own a Martin and one from Santa Cruze guitar co.

Nikki, I don't know if you've bought anything yet, but I have this guitar:

Welcome to Takamine

I think it's wonderful! It looks beautiful, sounds great, and has a tuner built in. More importantly, as a fellow petite female (5'1.5" with small hands), I can actually play bar chords on this thing -- the neck is narrower than average, and the strings are not raised too high. And the body is cut small enough that you can sit down and hold it without straining to get your arm around it! But it's still a full-sized guitar, so you get a better sound (I think) than you would from a 3/4 size. I don't know much about guitars, but all my guitar-playing friends love my guitar, too. It was about $450 at a Guitar Center. I bought it after a summer using a cheap 3/4 size and my brother's very nice, but too large, guitar. Well worth the investment!

And the calluses are fun! I wrote my law school admissions essay about guitar calluses.
