All,

I had been looking for a Library Database Program for some time because my Pastor really needs help in that area. He has about 2000 - 3000 books and has to film them so that he knows what he has for insurance purposes.

I just found a program today that is excellent for this. You can find it at the following link. http://www.collectorz.com/book

For about 35$ this program will go out to the Internet to find your book information. If you have a hand scanner, you can scan the bar code in and it will go to places like amazon or B&N to find info on your book. It is fantastic.

If y'all know of any other programs out there to keep track of a library, I'd like to know about them.

Blessings,

KC

This might be overkill...

I checked out the link you posted. Excellent!!! As far as other avenues, have you checked out NotaBene software? http://www.notabene.com

If you are a Word user then it will take some time getting used to but it is a Word Processor designed by and for scholars. It integrates: word processing, cataloguing/citation, note taking, foreign languages all into one suite of products. Take some time to browse the website and download a trial edition. Of course with complexity comes price tag...

The neat workflow works something like this:

Input book collection into Ibdem. Orbis is the note taking section.
As you read a book start an orbis file and include the citation from Ibdem. Do this for a dissertation called covenant theology. You could name all of the orbis files for this project with .cvt file extentions. As you start to write your paper, you can search through all of your notes on your computer and when you need to insert perfectly formatted footnotes/endnotes into your paper. It allows for Turbian, MLA, Chicago Styles + more. The nice thing is that once the paper is done and you need to submit it elsewhere - no need for reformatting. Simply tell it the style you want to use and it automatically does it.

There is a bit of a learning curve though. I'm trying to have it mastered before I enter seminary to make my life easier while there.

For a lot better review of it check here: http://www.sbl-site.org/Article.aspx?ArticleId=265
