Like oil in a smarting wound?

James Durham makes an analogy "like oil poured into a smarting wound, and good news from a far country." This in italics and from the second half seems to be citing scripture but none were given. The latter is a clear reference to Proverbs 25:25; but what is the first a reference to? Best I come up with is a cf. of Psalm 147:3 and Luke 10:34? Any other ideas?

It's as a good a guess; maybe just allude to all three? I did note that some modern easy English translation translated Psalm 147:3 as pouring oil in wounds. "He makes the broken-hearted well, and puts oil on their wounds." Bible in Basic English.
