Anyone -

Is anyone proficient with uploading new information and articles to Wikipedia?

I signed up, looked at it, and then was dissuaded to "learn something new" because it seemed like a bit of work.

I'd like to take some info from APM and other sources I have and get them onto that site. But I'm not willing to take hours to learn how to do it - I just don't have the time.

Are there Cliff Notes? :candle:

I think the main thing is that to link to another subject, you add brackets like Synergism. There's a few other markup requirements but not much. I'm sure someone here can give you the lowdown, but it won't take to much effort to pick it out for yourself. I'll look for the pertinent links you need.

Here's an example of some markup:
Code:
Presuppositional apologetics is a school of Christian apologetics, a field of Christian theology that attempts to (1) present a rational basis for the Christian faith, (2) defend the faith against objections, and (3) attack the perceived flaws of other worldviews. Presuppositional apologetics is especially concerned with the third aspect of this discipline, though it generally sees the trifold distinction as a difference in emphasis rather than as delineating three separate endeavors. Presuppositional apologetics developed in and is most commonly advocated within Reformed circles of Christianity.[/

Looks like triple quotes makes text bold. The double brakets make the text a link to an existing Wiki article. The following links "ratonal" to the Wiki article "reason" : rational

Code:
History of presuppositional apologetics
The double = marks text to be part of the table of contents.

Go to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Presuppositional_apologetics and click on "edit this page" and you will see more.

Cheat sheet: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Cheatsheet

I think the hard part will be getting the markups made to your pages before you copy them to Wiki. You'll want to automate that process as much as possible.

It's a lot like doing HTML. The basics are cake, but when you have reams of articles to convert - that's when it pays get someone to automate the redundant steps.

Since it's your copyright, I think you can do that - but I also think you are giving up the copyright to whatever you put on the Wiki. Anyone is allowed to edit whatever you post, even if the original is copy-righted.

Got it - however, there are some public domain stuff that I wouldn't mind expanding and getting it out there informationally.

I like the cheat sheet. Now all I need is some time.........

If I had the time, I'd like to clean up/edit/add/develop some Wikipedia entries relating to the Puritans and Huguenots.

Particularly, places that refer to them as "extremists" (see the current entry for Laurence Chaderton, for example, which calls Thomas Cartwright and William Perkins "extremists" or the Colony of Rhode Island entry).

There are a lot of important historical figures, events and documents that are not found in Wikipedia at all or only barely mentioned (the entry for William Perkins is pretty scarce but at least it links to APM's biographical sketch and there is no entry for Wilhelmus a Brakel, sadly) which should be included or expanded. Not everyone wants to read old ecclesiastical encyclopedias, but if the information was accessible through Wikipedia, it would get a lot more exposure. :2cents:
