A co-worker gave me a Ukulele on Monday. Realizing I needed a break from theology (here) I started practicing and here is the result...a simple 12 bar blues.

The reso ukuele sounds awesome.

I told my family that a ukulele is all I wanted for my birthday and so, of course, I got it. I didn't want an expensive one or a cheap one so I got one for $114 dollars and I'm happy with the sound. We are having so much fun with it. If you have a uke then you must check out this site. He has hundreds of standards listed with the tabs and chords. Great site.

You make it look so easy. Enjoyed the videos, makes it look like any one can learn to play uke. I thought about it before but not sure if this old dog can learn new things? My doctor suggested it before this way your brain is exercised in new ways.

Thanks folks.

I would say anyone could play uke if they really wanted to. It really was easy but I do have some background in banjo.

I picked up a new strum pattern last night while making dinner for the family using the video below. It looks difficult but it really isn't.

That sounds pretty good! JM, I find your avatar intriguing. What is that of?
The fella in the avatar is Roscoe Holcomb the famous old time guitar and banjo picker. He was also an Old Regular Baptist who struggled throughout his life to reconcile the Old Regular Baptist reluctance to use musical instruments especially during worship and his love of playing. My guess, and it's just a guess, he was singing a hymn when the picture in my avatar was taken.

I'll started a post about Old Time Music and lining out Psalms.

Thanks for the information about your avitar. It's a very pretty and nostolgic picture. I like it.

Many of the old Baptists remind me of my grandfather who was very Baptist to say the least. Roscoe Holcomb even looks like my grandfather. Strange I know. When I think upon my grandfather and the witness he left, I'm reminded of the biblical discourses of J. C. Philpot knowing my grandfather never read anything but the Bible.

My grandfather required thanksgiving before meals and he taught me to pray...rambling...the great cloud of witnesses is great indeed.

Forgive me.
