O, Death
O, Death
Won't you spare me over til another year
Well what is this that I can't see
With ice cold hands takin' hold of me
Well I am death, none can excel
I'll open the door to heaven or hell
Whoa, death someone would pray
Could you wait to call me another day
The children prayed, the preacher preached
Time and mercy is out of your reach
I'll fix your feet til you cant walk
I'll lock your jaw til you cant talk
I'll close your eyes so you can't see
This very air, come and go with me
I'm death I come to take the soul
Leave the body and leave it cold
To draw up the flesh off of the frame
Dirt and worm both have a claim
O, Death
O, Death
Won't you spare me over til another year

A grim picture of what I perceive will be a sweet release into the presence of my Lord!

In Pilgrim's Progress when Christian crossed the river he had a very difficult time and then went up the bank, leaving his old clothing in the river and the two shining ones were waiting for him to cloth him in white robes!

I'm thinking that when the time comes our Lord will have prepared my heart to welcome my homegoing and I will have no further sorrow or woe from this world, nor will I be pleading for another year for more of it!!

There is a beautiful song that goes something like this: 'When the day is over and the night is falling, I can hear Him calling, Come, my child, come home'. Thats the one I'd like to be sung at my memorial service!

I found it here:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MKSyFOsAp6c

Yah, of course. This song has roots going back to the 1600's and was posted for that reason.
