Christ’s fulfilling of the law as a covenant of works, for his people, was, to merit sanctification for them, that they might be able and willing to obey it as a rule of life. All, therefore, who are justified by his righteousness, are sanctified by his Spirit.

John Colquhoun, A Treatise of the Covenant of Grace (Edinburgh: Ogle, Allardice and Thomson, 1818), p. 273.
