On the Diaconate

Hello there, I am in search of some good and balanced reading material--preferrably articles--on the Diaconate--especially from Calvin.

On Calvin and the diaconate, I would recommend in particular two books -- Richard Gamble, Calvin's Ecclesiology : Sacraments & Deacons and Elsie Anne McKee, John Calvin on the diaconate and liturgical almsgiving -- and one article, David Apple, The Role of the Deacon.

On the diaconate in general, I would recommend those resources that I have listed in this previous thread and some of the links found here, including James Guthrie, A Treatise of Ruling Elders and Deacons and Jus Divinum Regiminis Ecclesiastici: The Divine Right of Church Government by the London Provincial Assembly.
