Petrus Plancius (1552 - 1622) was a famous cartographer as well as a minister in the Dutch Reformed Church. He was a member of the Synod of Dordt, and had warned the church of the dangers in Arminus' preaching for years beforehand. He was chosen to help translate the Staten-Bijbel. He was a friend of Henry Hudson, the English explorer. He was "[w]ell versed in geography, navigation and astronomy [he named several constellations], he encouraged Dutch commerce and became 'the father of Dutch Reformed missions.'" (Crisis in the Reformed Churches: Essays in Commemoration of the Synod of Dort, p. 205)
