For the student of the Hebrew text, Judges 18:30 is a real treat...a tantalizing mystery. In Judges 18:30, we have the problem of the suspended or superscripted Nun. If the Nun is read, Jonathan is the grandson of some otherwise unknown Manasseh; but, if the Nun is to be omitted, Jonathan, the progenitor of a succession of idolatrous priests, was the grandson of Moses! Does the nun belong or not? and how do you know?
