I started reading this yesterday from Volume six of the Banner of Truth edition, what a great read! Anyone ever read this? I would highly recommend it to anyone desiring inspiration to draw closer to the Lord and be more spiritually minded.

I also greatly enjoyed "the life of John Flavel" which is in volume one of his works. Again, highly recommended, it was one of those reads you just can't put down, so encouraging, convicting and inspiring.

Any Flavel fans here?

Don't miss his Mystery of Providence, also in that set, or available as a separate BoT paperback.

I read one of the sermons in 'mystery of providence' and greatly enjoyed it. I look forward to reading the rest as well.

I have not read his Preparations for Suffering but I have read a number of Flavel's other works. He remains one of my favourite authors and I found his Fountain of Life (vol 1 of his works) my favourite and it made such an impact on me when I read.
