Does anyone know whether there are modern editions of Preston's Breastplate of Faith and Love or Ball's Treatise of Faith available? I have downloaded facsimile editions which are fine, but a lot of work for me to get through....
Hello. I have asked my boss permission to set Warfare aside for a week to do these two works for you. They will be good additions to Monergism either way. I am going to go ahead and start them, as my boss is pretty giving when it comes to getting works actually done, as long as something is getting worked towards or completed. If he tells me no, to stay focused on Downame, I will let you know. I should be able, Lord willing to have both done by Monday or Tues. I am going to start with Ball's Treatise, as it has the most non-spelling errors, followed by Preston's. I will post here the links to the ePubs and PDF's when ePublished by Monergism. I personally looked, and couldnt find any edition that was not a facsimile, even the Banner reprint of Preston's was a reprinted facsimile, and now, people are asking about $100 or more for it because of its age. Like I was mentioning, I will let you know if my boss does not approve, but he is pretty good in generally just wanting to see good Reformed and Puritan books added to the library of offerings.

Preston is sat on a shelf at home, it would be great to have it digitally as well. Thank you.
I'm only aware of Ball's work on the covenant of grace in hardcopy (again in facsimile).
Spent yesterday doing some preliminaries on the John Ball text. Had so many Bible references, didnt want to leave out. I found that if I go to TCP, and look at the bottom of the text, all the margin notes are entered to the best of the transcriptionists ability. Thank you for the challenge. Learned a few tricks when doing this. Below isnt the finished work, I still have to go back in and finely comb the text, but it will look something like this. I know almost nobody will probably look them up, but they will be provided at the end of each part in its own chapter, if people do want to look them up. They will be listed in the order they were in the margin. When I get up today, going to use the below method to kind of cancel the noise, so I can look for extra ":" that shouldnt be there. By darkening everything, and highlighting the ";" that seperate the verses, and the ":", I can "look between bars" for multiple ":"'s. I really did have fun doing this and learning something new.
Cool. I don't know whether the text you produce will automate the LOGOS hyperlinks, but it looks like Psal. doesn't pick up the hyperlinks to psalms and King doesn't pick up the hyperlink to Kings, For what it's worth.

I didnt think you could get scripture references to pop-up in Kindle or most eReaders. And I know in Logos you can use PB's on the web-app. But it was an easy adjustment. Just went ahead and fixed it above, no reason to take more space hear. But it looks like they are all linking now. Like I said. I am just going to have a separate chapter at the end of each part, where that parts scripture references will be located. I dont have the time nor the desire to try and place them exactly where they go in the book, nor were they included in the body of the work, but in the margins. But they will be there for anybody who wants to look them up.
I don't really know. I use Acrobat for pdfs and Books for ebooks and neither of them do it now, but I don't have a kindle. I only use Logos through a web subscription so I don't really know what is capable there and if I could link it somehow to Acrobat or Books....

I dont mind either way. It was a cool little editing activity I hadnt done before, because most of the books, the text is included in the body. Again, thank you for the challenge. I am going to get some shut eye, then get up and start working on the actual text. It has about 1,500 non-spelling errors. I had already corrected the errata earlier in the day, so I can jump right in. Prestons on the other hand only has 250 or so non-spelling errors. So he may only take me a day, Lord willing, maybe two.
Ebooks require endnotes as far as I understand (no footnotes). But personally I'm not bothered if scriptural references are included as such or not.. it's a good reason to open up the Bible if they aren't.

I think you can do either, I have seen both in them; like in RHB eBooks, they have footnotes at the end of paragraphs. If one wanted to spend the time doing that, it is certainly feasible. But what I am going to do is something like below, because I dont have a month to spend on this text. Its basically a side quest.

I am going to make the scripture references their own chapter. This way, those who would like to look them up either before, or after reading said chapter, can do so. In eBooks, or books read in Kindle and such like eReaders, to my knowledge, a Bible must be opened anyway. I have yet to find a way to get the pop-up scripture feature in them like you do with Logos books.
Also, as a side note, so grateful for the Lord showing me this trick. If you look, you can see the two yellow bars being off-sequence. The appropriate sequence should be one pink, one yellow, one pink, one yellow, unless there is a blue "&." I know it is the Lord, because I would have never thought of this to catch those buried errors within so many scripture references.
Hey, just wanted to give an update. I sent Ball's "A Treatise of Faith" into Monergism this morning, so that should be ePublished sometime today or tomorrow. That one took a bit as I had to collect and format all the scripture references, which took a couple days, then do the text, which had about 1,500 non-spelling errors. Prestons text on the other hand is only marked at about 250 non-spelling errors, and all the scripture references are already included in the text. So, Lord willing, should have that one done sometime tomorrow and sent in. Again, will post here the link to the books on Monergism once they are complete. God Bless.

No problem. But I really cant take the credit. EEBO-TCP and Project Puritas did 95% of the work. Plus the Lord showing me a trick or two dealing with these specific texts over the past year has done wonders as well. Factor in Monergism supporting the efforts, and I have very little, if anything to do with this. Enjoy brother, and thank you for pointing these works out.
