I ran across this questionaire 30 years ago which has been a help to me. Thought it might be useful for some of you out there who have questions about whether your theology is of Rome or the Reformation.

1. Do you believe that the grace of God in your heart is able to make you acceptable in the sight of God?

2. Do you believe that Christ as a divine Person can dwell in your heart?

3. Do you believe that the indwelling of Christ can make the good works of a Christian entirely acceptable to God?

In every case the answer is yes if you are of Rome, no if your of the Reformation.

Do you know why?

mnkid53,
Please update your sig w/ name, affiliation and residence location. Thanks,

The reason why has to do with the objective vs subjective.

Question 1. What the Roman theology was emphasizing and most of the evangelical churches teach is the subjective. Instead of meaning God's work of salvation, justification etc. [b:b1769d9438]outside of man[/b:b1769d9438] their meaning is God renewing and sanctifying in man's heart.
The heart is wicked it is of the flesh.
The grace of God is in Christ. The grace of God is infinitely greater than what our hearts can contain.

Question 2. Christ dwells in heaven. He is seated at the right hand of the Father. Christ is present in His word and by His Spirit. Again subjective vs objective.

Question 3. Our works are not a part of the righteousness by which we find merit before God. The works that are acceptable to God are the works of Christ. All that we do our most holy reverent acts of worship are stained by sin. Christ bears the guilt of our best most holy offerings. Again this is a case of subjective vs objective.

Do you know why?
Can you site scriptural references for these reformation truths?
