If you haven't read these, you should. I recommend them:

1. "The Meaning of the Word 'Blood' in Scripture," in Such a Great Salvation: The Collected Essays of Alan Stibbs, edited by Andrew Atherstone (Fearn: Mentor, 2008), pp. 157-184. The essay was originally published in 1948. This entire volume is interesting.

2. "What Did the Cross Achieve?: The Logic of Penal Substitution," in The Collected Shorter Writings of J. I. Packer: Volume 1: Celebrating the Saving Work of God, by James I. Packer (Carlisle: Paternoster Press, 1998), pp. 85-123. This essay was originally published in 1973. It, alone, is worth the price of this volume.

Happy reading! Dr. Packer, by the way, will be 87 on July 22nd.
