A poem I wrote after watching the "Luther" movie.
=========================================
Beneath the darkness of the world,
The vain pomp of earthly Man,
Of statues and relics of saints of old,
Of cathedrals clad in silver and gold,
Rises a still small voice.

This small voice speaks the words of truth,
The truth many have forgot;
Of the pure Word of God and His great love,
Of how true life is not by will or works,
But by His sovereign grace.

Now this voice stands, like young David,
Against the might of the world;
Of shows and promise that never fulfills,
Of vain words and bread that never refills,
They anger at God's truth.

Then comes suffering Christ warned of,
Unto His precious saints;
Of martyrs burnt alive for their witness,
Of pilgrims who migrate to flee darkness,
They sow the Church's seeds.

So remember, martyrs' children,
Your fathers' glorious battles;
Of the fights they partake for your freedom,
Of the comforts they shed for the Kingdom,
Remember today your past!
