In Revelation 10:6 we read: "And sware by him that liveth for ever and ever, who created heaven, and the things that therein are, and the earth, and the things that therein are, and the sea, and the things which are therein, that there should be time no longer:"
Why should this not be understood to refer to the cessation of time, and the swallowing of it up in eternity?

Short and simple answer: This is a misunderstanding due to an overly literalistic translation. Χρόνος in this context means “delay,” not “time” as an entity.
