Puritan Board Freshman
Hello friends. I start my freshman year at UCLA in September. In the mean time, I have to finish some work before I graduate high school. In light of this, I've chosen to write an essay for one of my senior projects. My school is structured so that seniors must complete three senior projects before they graduate.

I thought about writing an essay discussing the relevancy of the "mainline Protestant church."

Essential Question: What is “mainline Protestantism” and why is it no longer relevant? What is significant about the steep decline in membership for the protestant church?

I have myriad of questions regarding this prompt:

-Is it too broad?
-What type of paper should this be? Research, persuasive?
-What, if anything, would I gain from investigating this topic? Is there another topic in the Church more pertinent that I could look at.

If this is a good topic, where should I start the research? Should the paper be based in theological argument or should it be a numbers game?

I have complete autonomy in choosing what I write about so there are no restrictions.

Any and all suggestions or comments will be of great value.
