Shirley Temple died yesterday at the age of 85. BBC News - Hollywood star Shirley Temple dies I know she brought a lot of joy and laughter to my family over the years, and I look forward to sharing the wonderful gifts which God gave to her with my kids someday.

Edit: those were such hard times with the war and people so desperately poor. I have often thought, when I watch her and can't help smiling over all that is wholesome and naturally happy in her that she was a tender mercy from God against the bleakness of a lot of people's experience and outlook at that time.

We've been reading "Heidi", and my girls can't wait to watch the Shirley Temple movie. She's one of my favorite actresses. I love the movie "Since You Went Away". She's a young woman in that movie. I was saddened by this news. I would imagine she's been a great role model to many generations of women and girls.

I grew up watching those movies of hers. Even as a kid her movies were probably the only musicals I could bear to watch. And I hate musicals, shows how good she must have been.
