There are some important details of the passage being left out of the discussion but I'll not muddy the waters with that here out of respect for Chris and Dr. Strange. Good to hear what aspects of the passage were convincing to him and why as it gives me further insight into the thinking of my pedobaptist brothers and sisters.

Good to hear Dr. Strange (had not heard or seen him apart from PB before) and his story. Clearly a skilled speaker and pleasant to listen to. The connection with Sinclair Ferguson is also fascinating. I have been blessed by Dr. Srange's insight and godly tone here at the PB - a model for me in many ways.

I had the pleasure of meeting Dr. Strange a few years ago in Limington (and later that day, Portland), Maine during a small Reformed conference that my (soon to be) wife and I attended.

He's a very gifted speaker, and funny too.

I don't mean to derail the thread, but I did send you a conversation message that has not been replied to. Why is the "Going Credo" thread still closed? Would you please reopen it? Feel free to delete this post if you prefer to reply to my private message. Thank you!

No, you did not; or I cannot find it (and I did look but that is not infallible). Thread will remain closed at thread author's request.

My paedo conversion was similar, but with Dr, Dick Gaffin. A deep fundy-Dispensational with prior seminary work under my belt, I was not cognizant at the time of the blessing of having Dr. Gaffin as my academic adviser.

A last semester conversation with him, in which I presented a self-developed reformed credo argument, was the prompt. He agreed with my exegetical work - as far as it went. While I wasn’t surprised at the ‘limiting presupposition’ argument, I was surprised at the Spirit’s overwhelming illumination of Dr. Gaffin’s one example text. With me shrinking in a collapse, and him tearing up as he saw my pain, my mind began spinning through all the other texts, seeing places where I indeed was presuming the position I was seeking to prove.

His recommended follow up of studying 4 books offering the reformed credo position sealed the deal - I was convinced I (and they) were interpreting the Scriptures wrong on baptism.

I will ever remember Dr. Gaffin’s kind gentleness and care, and his sympathetic approach as he realized the personal cost of “converting” were a bit overwhelming for me,
