So I asked ChatGPT4 some questions.

I actually got some pretty decent answers. ChatGPT 3.5 when I tried to have it tally counts from Bible verses wouldn't give me an integer (an actual tally or count) in its answer, but ChatGPT 4 handled it like a champ. I asked ChatGPT4 to tally up the number of times we can conclude where preaching or teaching is taking place, indoors vs. outdoors. I then asked ChatGPT4 to consider locations which could be inferred and its list looks a little light (curiously few Old Testament references).

Inside (23):

Jesus teaching in the synagogue (Mark 1:21-22)
Jesus teaching in the synagogue (Luke 4:16-21)
Jesus teaching in the synagogue (Matthew 13:54)
Jesus teaching in the synagogue (Mark 6:1-6)
Jesus teaching in the synagogue (Luke 6:6-11)
Jesus teaching in the house (Matthew 13:36)
Jesus teaching in the Pharisee's house (Luke 7:36-50)
Jesus teaching in the house (Mark 2:1-12)
Jesus teaching in the house (Luke 5:17-26)
Jesus teaching in the house (Luke 14:1-24)
Peter and John teaching in the temple (Acts 3:1-10; Acts 4:1-2)
Peter preaching in the house of Cornelius (Acts 10:24-48)
Paul and Silas teaching in the synagogue (Acts 17:1-4)
Paul teaching in the school of Tyrannus (Acts 19:8-10)
Paul preaching in Lydia's house (Acts 16:14-15)
Paul preaching in the jailer's house (Acts 16:25-34)
Paul preaching in the house of Justus (Acts 18:7)
Paul preaching in the house of Aquila and Priscilla (Acts 18:26)
Paul preaching in the house of Titus Justus (Acts 18:7)
Paul preaching in Troas in an upper room (Acts 20:7-12)
Paul preaching in his own hired house in Rome (Acts 28:30-31)
Paul preaching in the house of Onesiphorus (2 Timothy 1:16)
Paul preaching in the house of Philemon (Philemon 1:2)

Outside (20):

Jesus delivering the Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 5:1-2)
Jesus teaching by the seaside (Mark 4:1)
Jesus teaching in the wilderness (Matthew 14:13-21)
Jesus teaching in the wilderness (Mark 6:34-44)
Jesus teaching in the wilderness (Luke 9:10-17)
Jesus teaching on the Mount of Olives (Matthew 24:3-51)
Jesus teaching on the Mount of Olives (Mark 13:3-37)
Jesus teaching on the Mount of Olives (Luke 21:5-36)
Jesus teaching on the road to Emmaus (Luke 24:13-35)
Peter preaching on the Day of Pentecost (Acts 2:14-41)
Philip preaching in Samaria (Acts 8:4-8)
Philip preaching to the Ethiopian eunuch (Acts 8:26-39)
Paul preaching at Damascus (Acts 9:19-22)
Peter and John preaching in Solomon's Porch (Acts 3:11-26)
Paul preaching at Lystra (Acts 14:8-18)
Paul preaching by the riverside (Acts 16:13-14)
Paul preaching at Mars Hill (Acts 17:22-31)
Paul preaching at Ephesus (Acts 19:11-20)
Paul preaching on the island of Malta (Acts 28:1-10)
John the Baptist preaching in the wilderness (Matthew 3:1-6; Mark 1:2-8; Luke 3:1-18)

Please note that these numbers are approximate and based on the biblical accounts available. There may still be other instances of preaching and teaching in the Bible with unspecified settings or cases open to interpretation.

Does anyone know a better way to get ChatGPT to parse Bible texts, or a way to do this in Logos? I've tinkered with the Bible Browser but it doesn't have generic locations or distinctions such as indoors/outdoors.

Interesting.

I have often thought about AI and the Bible when it comes to interpretation. It's fascinating for me to think that we could have an AI that could 'read' all the manuscripts, translations, and commentary available on the Bible and allow us to expound upon what's being said while discussing deep theological areas. Not sure if that would change things drastically for us in our understanding, but I could see areas where this technology could benefit the church.

Personally, I'd love to turn it loose on my Logos library. I think a lot of good work could be accomplished that way. Perhaps FaithLife will follow the trend of so many companies and seek to integrate generative AI in Logos 11?
