Well into the 2014 season and Somerset are top of the 1st division. We've been in the County Championship since 1892 and we are the only team not to have won it - maybe, just maybe this year will be the one. Last game of the season is in Leeds - already have the day in the shop diary as "Ken out at the match"

Hat tricks (3 wickets with 3 consecutive balls) is unusual but earlier this week Alfonso Thomas became the first Somerset player ever to get 4 wickets with 4 bowls.

I have been at Somersets home ground in Taunton watching them play Yorkshire a few years ago. It was one of these 20/20 or mabe 40/40 one day things. My uncle actually just lived 200 yards up the street from the ground. My son wanted to go and as I have felt cricket to be the most boring game ever brought a book along with me to read. However I was most surprised and enjoyed the occasion finding it both gripping and relaxing on a very pleasent day. Needless to day the book was never opened.
