I like Sting, but that might be a little bit out there for me...

Sounds kind of cool though. It would be interesting to hear.

Has anyone heard Sting's new album, Songs from the Labyrinth (Elizabethen-era tunes performed on the lute)?

Yes, I've heard it (I own it). I thought it was very interesting. A very brave thing for Sting to do, considering his normal fan base. And, it is certainly more interesting than Paul McCartney's latest foray into the classical world.

Kudos to Sting (isn't he getting a little long in the tooth to be still called "Sting"?) for doing something like this. I hope it gets good reviews and sells like crazy.

What caught my eye was the "labyrinth". What does Sting mean by that? Is this a reference to the new age pagan practice that one increasingly finds in churches, retreat centers, etc.?

Or does he mean something completely different?

According to the booklet note, it has to do with the design around the soundhole on the lute that is played on the disc. Part of the artistic design of the lute.
