My experience at community college was pretty positive. I didn't take any English at that level, but I found that professors there were actually interested in teaching rather than in padding CVs with publications unlike many large university professors I had the sometime (dis)pleasure of taking courses from. I've been to large and small private universities, large and small public universities, community college, bible college, and have gone though both master's and doctoral programs. Some of the best teachers I had were at the community college level. Perhaps my experience isn't representative, but I wouldn't count them out.

Was being somewhat tongue-in-cheek, but also truly was representative of a number of students with whom I'm familiar, attending a local cc.

Yeah, I assumed it was tongue-in-cheek. I just wanted to throw in my 2 cents as someone who thinks community colleges sometimes get an undeserved bad rap. :)

A B.A from Whitefield would be cheap, done online, theologically rich and would prepare you well for Mdiv. I reckon

Yes, this is true about the majority of schools. But I am sure that there are some who do not subscribe to this way of thinking. Patrick Henry College, Wheaton College, Hillsdale College, Grove City College come to mind.

I spent a week at l’Abri in the late 90’s. It was not at all what I had expected and many of the conversations with some of the staff at that time made me very uncomfortable. I certainly felt no continuity with Francis Schaefer, a man I greatly admire.
