I read him years and years ago, and liked him as a boy. Looking back, I've realized that the Shanara series was one of the more blatant thematic, almost one-for-one borrowing or retelling of the Tolkien saga in different skin, and not that different. I think, without realizing it at the time, I just gravitated to stuff with more originality after that, and never got back into his stuff. Probably he matured as a writer over time, and I just never kept up with him--my loss. Glad you liked his SW contribution. Its been years since I read much fiction at all, and even less sci-fi/fantasy.
