William Greenhill says:
The devil is never more devil, than when he transforms himself into an angel of light; he seeming light, being darkness, is devilishly hypocritical, hiding all his hellish darkness under pretended light: and so do all hypocrites, who are his eldest sons; under the light of being religious, they do all their deeds of darkness. From his commentary on Ezekiel, page 484.
What I would add to this is that Satan is the master of distraction in throwing the accusation of hypocrisy towards Christians in order to keep people from seeing his own gross hypocrisy. While his accusation may be true of pretenders, we need to realize that Satan's accusations of hypocrisy directed towards Christians come from ulterior motives. He is actually accusing hypocrites of being like himself!
