Some acquaintenances are all hot on this "new information" on Jesus compiled by 68 "scholars". I know it's bunk, but have any denominations adopted this theology?

Thansk,
Mike

Their influence is in the more liberal mainline denominations, but even there their work has been subject to considerable criticism.

The Jesus Seminar is quite infamous for its heresies and is dedicated to departing, destroying would probably be a better word, the orthodox Christian faith and is totally derived from biblical criticism in it's quest to discover the "historical Jesus" as opposed to what they would call the "theological Jesus." Hence, in their thinking the "real Jesus" was just a man, the "theological Jesus" that Christianity teaches about is something created by men and superimposed upon the "historical Jesus." It's purpose is completely anti-Christian and was explicitly dedicated to destroying the Christian Faith by having it's so called experts consistently denounce the validity of Scripture's testimony. Denominations like the Church of Christ and similar organizations would be heavily steeped in these fundamental principles, but the presuppositional thinking behind it is the foundational root of all modern biblical criticism, so it has in some way affected the Church as a whole as its taken up the quest to destroy the canonicity of the Received Text of Protestantism.
