The Lord’s Tower

Kyle Stratford

In a dream, I saw the world
Spread out like a scroll unfurled
T’ward it, many stars were hurled.

All about, I saw the land
All upon, there lay a ram
Its horns sunk deep, in the sand.

On its back, stood pillars twelve
On them sat a golden shelf
On this, three bowls, gilded well.

In these bowls were waters pure
Singing psalms for all to hear
To the rims, they each drew near.

On three waters, stood the Lamb
Facing opposite that ram
One hoof raised, above the land.

On His back, there stood a tree
Tall enough for all to see
Of its shape, the letter, “t”.

On the bough, (that on its right)
Dwelt there fruits, both ripe and bright
Its leaves were lush to the sight.

Of the bough (that on its left)
Of all green it was bereft
Thorns and thistles were its best

On these boughs, a scale was hung
Balanced fully by their rung
In each a word, to be sung.

Of these two words, both read, “Truth
One was seemly, one uncouth
To each his own, each must choose.

For from the top, of this tree
Grew there branches heavenly
Love of God, for all to see;

Love resounds, eternally.
