The practical expositor, or, An exposition of the New Testament by John Guyse, English Dissenting minister (1680 - 1761) is available online below. John Brown of Haddington says of him: "The best commentaries are those of...Guise...Scarcely is any other so thoroughly evangelical, and so attentive to the connection, as Guise." Edward Williams says: "If this work has not an air of elegant criticism and modern refinement, like the Family Expositor, it is very sound and judicious; expressed in a style significant, perspicuous, and correct, though not ornamented."
