What books are there out there by the Puritan writers that focuses particularly on the family, how a husband should lead his family, and what God desires of a family? Thanks for your suggestions!

This isn't by a Puritan writer, but it gives good insight into the workings of a prominent late-Puritan family: Dodd's Marriage to a Difficult Man about Sarah and Jonathan Edwards was certainly humbling to me. Be aware that Dodd was not always familiar with a reformed perspective, so she goes "off" in a few places.

Not exactly what you're looking for, but perhaps related in a general way would be

Thoughts on Family Worship by J.W. Alexander, (Soli Deo Gloria Publications) 1990.

There is that book that Soli Deo Gloria published called The Godly Family, which contains a number of chapters by various Puritans, and the RPCI's very own Thomas Houston. :)

Hi:

A book done about the Puritan Family is Edmund Morgan's: The Puritan Family: Religion & Domestic Relations in 17th Century New England

ISBN: 978-0061312274

Blessings,

-CH
