Robert Traill (The Lord's Prayer, John 17:24), Works 2:104:

Some will tell you that Christ saves sinners by teaching and helping them to save themselves. What a gross perverting of the gospel is this? How plain is it, that Christ came not to help us to save ourselves, but to save us by himself? He alone did all the work, and he alone was able to do it. And the glory of saving is so rich a jewel in Christ’s crown, that no man, without pride and blasphemy, can offer to wear it. To be the Saviour of sinners is Christ’s property; and no creature in heaven or earth can share in it. The holy angels are humble adorers of this name, and all the redeemed of the Lord are the happy partakers of the virtue of this name of Christ, Rev. 5:9-14.
