The spiritual grace in the Lord’s Supper is Christ’s body & blood, nourishing our souls by renewing pardon for sin past, and grace against sin hereafter. 1 Cor. 10. 16. Joh. 6. 51, 54, 55, 58.

Herbert Palmer, An endeavour of making the principles of Christian religion, namely the Creed, the Ten Commandments, the Lord’s prayer, and the Sacraments, plain and easy tending to the more speedy instruction of the meanest capacities, and weakest memories, and for the making trial also of their understandings, who though they have attained some measure of saving knowledge, yet through the weakness of their abilities cannot express even that which they do conceive (3rd edn, London: Thomas Underhill, 1644), p. 43.
