The question is what defines a great athlete? The foil is Michael Phelps and whether or not he should be classified as an all time great athlete or just a great swimmer.

He is the greatest swimmer. I was in awe watching him. I swam the 1000, 1650, and 200 back in college. I made me regret ever having gotten wet. I didn't feel worthy be being called a swimmer. (It also made me ashamed when I tilted my head down and gazed at what lurks below my chest. )
