Welcome to the 2024 PB Pick'em Bowl Bash! ** Kick-off is 8pm CDT, Tuesday, Dec 17 **

It wouldn't have mattered if I'd gone option A - I would have picked Oregon to win it all. Still vacillating on the Orange.

100% agreed. I am curious who you will end up taking for the Orange. You have interesting ways of looking at how to pick.

Trying to figure out if they want an all Big 10 final or to put Notre Dame back in the big leagues as an independent.

By giving ND a couple less days to prepare, I think it might be 2 teams from the Big 10.

By making it an all Big 10 final it will be their way of genuflecting before the largest and wealthiest conference.

5 years ago I would have pointed at you all and said you need tin foil hats. Not so much these days.

Happy Monday, folks! Option B people: don't forget to submit your Picks for the Orange Bowl and the Cotton Bowl.

All right... Here's where everyone stands:

Brad - 31
Rick, Jason, Andrew - 30
Todd, Me - 26
Edward, Willis, Lane - 25

Ok, so brass tacks: there are 3 games left. For Option B people: 3 games worth 1 point each... y'all can do the math to ascertain whether or not you're still in contention. For Jason, as an Option A person, everything rides on Texas. If Texas wins the Championship, so does he.

Though it won't be me... I'm excited to see who wins!
I'm going with Notre Dame and Ohio State - both teams I strongly dislike as a Protestant Penn State fan so it appears I am once again employing my win-either-way strategy.

For some reason this sent me back to the mid-1990's when there was talk of Notre Dame joining the Big 10 after Penn State had made it the Big 11 :)

Missed the cut. Would have been Notre Dame and Ohio State, but it doesn't matter (even if I had hit the deadline). Looks like ND is getting whipped.

Worst winter storm since the Super Bowl was held in Arlington.

To wax philosophical: while the truth of a thing is never subjective in the final analysis, it still holds that the truth of a thing is always relative to the time in which a thing is observed.

Translation: I would have agreed with you 100% at the time you posted. But this is PB and some here like philosophically nerdy ways of saying things hahahaha

All righty, folks! Only ONE game remains of the 2024 College Football season: the National Championship Game to be played one week from today.

At this point it is down to Brad and Andrew... which one will walk away with the title?
As for the rest of us: we're playing to avoid being at the absolute bottom of the heap.

So: Option B players... you may now submit your picks (with predicted score!) for the National Championship Game featuring Ohio State v. Notre Dame.
You have until 6:30pm, CDT, on 20 Jan to submit your picks.

Here are our current total scores:
Brad - 33
Andrew - 32
Rick, Jason - 30
Me - 28
Willis, Todd - 26
Lane, Edward - 25

So if Andrew picks first, I just need to pick the same winner as him. If that team loses, we both hold as is and I win. And if that team wins, I still am a point ahead but then he could gain another point if his score prediction is closer to mine which would result in a tie which goes to tiebreaker?

Am I getting that right?

Also, I would be happy to pick first. I just like waiting a bit in case of injuries in practice etc.

Yes, you have been so dominant that you are in the driver’s seat. The only possible way for him to win would be to produce a tie, and the only possible way for that to happen would be if he picks opposite of you… and be correct while you are wrong.

I took myself out of the running the last round by not timely participating, but I'll go on record with Notre Dame. I think Ohio State is clearly the better team but I think they will want to run with a First Black Coach story. I do think the coach handled himself well when ESPN tried to make it the story.

Gonna posit a score?

OSU (33-28)

Glad I can’t win and run this thang next season!:amen::bouncy::bouncing::amen:
Well, per the rules as published way back at the start of the season... victory doesn't result in one being doomed to run it the following year... if you (the winner) aren't up for running it you may select an eligible replacement to serve as convener. :judge:

I'm just happy that with the season I had.... that I wound up somewhere in the middle of the pack. I figured I'd be the caboose bringing up the rear!

I'm picking OSU to win... and I think they're gonna smother ND. I'm goin 42-18.

I like how they ignore the fact that he would also be the first Asian coach, too.

In that case, I pick whoever Brad doesn't pick to win by a score of 28-27.

Maybe that is why the Powers that be decide HE will not be the first Black (sic) coach in college football to win it all.
