"Dominique" by The Singing Nun--Don't know that I've ever heard this song...

Looking over the various songs that were popular on my birthday..make me laugh and bring back various memories..

In 1966 it was "Winchester Cathedral" by The New Vaudeville Band, we had to learn a dance to that song when I was in elementary school (when they still taught dance) the really scary thing is, I still remember parts of the dance..

And in 1974 Kung Fu Fighting, being made popular yet again with the movie Kung Fu Panda--

and my husbands was one I actually know...

"It's Only Make Believe" by Conway Twitty

"Dominique" was a smash hit all over the country, mainly because nobody understood its French lyrics. It was sung by a nun, which everyone except me thought was really cute at the time. It was kind of like "Sukiyaki" by Kyu Sakamoto, another one that sat on the top of the charts for a couple of months because nobody understood its Japanese lyrics.

"Dominique" was okay, but irritating after awhile if you had to listen to it 40 times a day because the Top 40 stations played it every 6 minutes. Here's a video of Soeur Sourire, the Belgian nun who sang it:

The song was the inspiration for the later Sally Field sitcom "The Flying Nun."

A lot of the songs mentioned above, I remember... Wow, are you guys young!

"Mother-in-Law" by Ernie K-Doe: that was a great song!!!!

I was kind of little when it came out, but I remember it well, probably mostly as an "oldie but goodie."

'There Ought to be a Moonlight Savings Time', Guy Lombardo

Guy Lombardo made beautiful big band music for sure!!

I don't know if its boredom or the lack of remaining blood cells. I am glad that he is now sober. I always thought he was pretty talented.

I hope that, along with the 103 lbs. he purportedly lost on the Nutrisystem plan, he's also found a place to ditch all that fringe. That seriously doesn't become a 64-year-old man, unless *we* are trying to evoke Elvis, in which case the black fringe is probably appropriate.

I, too, also always liked Tony Orlando, but for reasons other than, well, guys here would like him... ;)
