Puritan Board Freshman
Hello all!

This is my first post on Puritan Board, and I am newcomer to the Presbyterian world, so please bear with me if I show my ignorance.

I recently stumbled upon a thread (https://www.puritanboard.com/threads/covenanter-question.72192/) in which a poster linked to an 1807 book entitled Reformation Principles Exhibited. The book was published by the Reformed Presbyterian Church in the USA.

I am unaware of any such Presbyterian denomination. Who were they, what came of them, and how did they fit into the American Presbyterian landscape, both then and as we know it today?

Thanks!

The Reformed Presbyterians (RPCNA) and Associate Presbyterians (ARP) roots date to slightly before the founding of the mainline PCUSA. They have different histories but maybe some here can give them. This work is by those would become the RPCNA I think.

So the 'Reformed Presbyterian Church in the United States of America' evolved into what is now the RPCNA?

I think it is a straight line with some peel offs which is why the name change. The ARP also had a history of divisions but am way to rusty on the details to give any.
