Puritan Board Freshman
Ok. I am not admitting ignorance, but I heard that Richard Baxter was a "Puritan", however, while I was listening on the White Horse Inn, some theologians were saying that his ideas on Justification were screwed up. Another was even saying that some of his works were close to heretical. I know that many consider this guy a Puritan, but it has been argued that technically he wasn't... of course I don't remember why this was. Just recently when we were discussing "The Passion", Baxter was used to defend the use of pictures by my bible study member's pastor, even though I don't even think the pastor even sat down to read Baxter. So my question is, is Baxter a worthy read? What is he? How is he theologically wise? Someone please help... I am confused. I know he wrote "The Reformed Pastor" which I head was really good and I will definitely read.
Thanks,
