Who was William Strong? Why does his covenant theology matter?

Regi Addictissimus

Completely sold out to the King
We have a study of the great Westminster divine, William Strong's covenant theology coming out soon. I have always appreciated RHB's monographs that study these all but forgotten divines' covenant theology.

Who was William Strong? Why should you care today? What implications does a treatise on covenant theology from 1678 have on your life today? Thomas Parr answers these questions and more in Backdrop for a Glorious Gospel.

William Strong mined the depths of covenant theology. His theology was not abstract. Strong knew how important these truths were for living a godly life and to appreciate what Christ accomplished on the cross fully.

Table of Contents:

Yes, but sadly it suffers from being too long (at least in many people's minds). Hence, it is so underused. Less truly is more.

Spurgeon's comment on Collinges's massive commentary on the first two chapters of the Canticles comes to mind,
It would try the constitutions of many modern divines to read what these Puritans found it a pleasure to write. When shall we see their like?
