Why are there calves on the cover of the CHB version of "The Plight of Man and the Power of God" by D. Martyn Lloyd-Jones?

I'll take a stab at it (though I'm sure you'll get better answers!)--a reference to the golden calves and the power of God to save man from false idols? (my best guess-- it sure doesn't seem clear why they're there to me either!)
