I saw the movie Woodlawn on Saturday and was quite impressed with it. IT was not another cheesy christian movie. It had good acting, with Sean Astin and Jon Voight, a good story and and good direction. IT was made for $25 million and looks good.
The movie is the true story of a recently desegregated high school in Birmingham, Alabama in 1973. There are racial tensions at the school but a preacher played by Sean Astin, converts the football team and they manage to see beyond the old hatreds. Eventually, a revival breaks out at the school as well.
The movie focuses on one player, Tony Nathan, who is black and his struggles and triumphs.
IT is a beautiful story of race, faith and football.
Go see it.
