Relating to my other thread on William Perkins' call to keep a commonplace book, I wanted to pose another question.

Does anyone here use a Zettelkasten method for research accumulation?

I did about 18 months ago. It just didn't work for me.

Addendum: It may work for me. Though at this time, it is overkill.

Can you please explain how you came to use it and then came to that conclusion? I worry that it's a much bigger investment than I can give for my time. Yet, as with many of these things, taking the time to start, though challenging, is ultimately a helpful move.

Yes. I will. :)

Jonathan,

I like the idea of a Zettelkasten (Z). Had I discovered the concept 2-3 years before I did while working from home due to lockdowns, I may have created a modest one. Now, the one a briefly created an abandoned was an 'analog' version popularized by Scott Scheper. I was not in my home office often and found the system cumbersome. In some sense that is the purpose of it. I may revisit creating a Z, though an electronic or composite one. I still use paper in planing and some notetaking but have gone electonic with much of what I do at home and the office.
