Zettelkasten?

Relating to my other thread on William Perkins' call to keep a commonplace book, I wanted to pose another question.

Does anyone here use a Zettelkasten method for research accumulation?

I did about 18 months ago. It just didn't work for me.

Addendum: It may work for me. Though at this time, it is overkill.

Can you please explain how you came to use it and then came to that conclusion? I worry that it's a much bigger investment than I can give for my time. Yet, as with many of these things, taking the time to start, though challenging, is ultimately a helpful move.
