"Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you tithe mint and dill and cumin, and have neglected the weightier matters of the law: justice and mercy and faithfulness. These you ought to have done, without neglecting the others. You blind guides, straining out a gnat and swallowing a camel!" (Matthew 23:23-24, ESV)

"But woe to you Pharisees! For you tithe mint and rue and every herb, and neglect justice and the love of God. These you ought to have done, without neglecting the others." (Luke 11:42, ESV)

What are the kinds of things we must watch out for so that Reformed and evangelical Christians don't become like the Pharisees in their zeal for tithing and the Sabbath?

What precisely were the errors of the Pharisees highlighted here, the weightier matters of the law which we as followers of Christ should major in, and the things neglected?

Justice, or seeing that the Law of God is obeyed by ourselves, our families, and in society.

Mercy, or being unwilling to make a judgment without all of the facts, or being willing to hear of an evil report.

The love of God, or (as I take it) showing the kindness of the LORD to others, and bearing with each other and forgiving each other, even as God in Christ forgave us.
