9Anyone who runs ahead and does not continue in the teaching of Christ does not have God; whoever continues in the teaching has both the Father and the Son. 10If anyone comes to you and does not bring this teaching, do not take him into your house or welcome him. 11Anyone who welcomes him shares in his wicked work.

For those in the free grace (meaning you do not have to repent) camp, does this apply to them?
I mean Hebrews 6 tells us 1Therefore let us leave the elementary teachings about Christ and go on to maturity, not laying again the foundation of repentance from acts that lead to death,

So an elementary principle seems like an essential doctrine of Christ right? Should we not welcome or have fellowship with those who teach such a thing? I have always thought the teachers are saved but are just in bad doctrine that is damning others, but would those who do not teach the teachings of Christ not have God? Meaning all of them?

Thanks,

Tyler, many commentators interpret "the elect lady and her children" in vs.1 as a real local church to whom John is writing. Thus this prohibition would be relative to not admitting false teachers in to preach or teach error to the flock.
