A Amill/Postmill view?

I hold to a kind of Amill/Postmill view of eschatology and I am wondering if anyone else is the same boat I am?

There are lots of people who hold to Amil or Postmil views of eschatology. Most people here would.

Me and I believe a lot of today's postmils.

I think some of the older postmils believed that the millennium commenced in the future with e.g. the salvation of the Jews or the downfall of Antichrist i.e. the Papacy or the dowhfall of Babylon i.e. the apostate Church, including Rome.

These will be better times of the millennium when the principle of Christ's kingdom has worked itself out further than at present, but it seems clear from Revelation 20 and various passages in John's Gospel and elsewhere that in principle the milennium started with Christ's kingdom in the first century.

When describing oneself as opposed to premil (as in rapture feaver or the historic type), amil is a good way of saying "I don't believe in THAT".

However, when describing oneself as opposed to the "a few of us will be saved" Reformed types, then Postmil is a good say of saying "Thank you very much, but I agree with the Confession and the Puritans."

I'm not sure really how you could be both amil and postmil since they differ in terms of the victory that the Church militant will have in the present age. Even optimistic amill folk don't believe in the postmil victory.

I disagree. Amillenialism is clearly more like rice. Postmillenialism is analogous to beans because both beans and postmils always have to have the final word.

Two other bloggers there argued back and forth during January 2009 and then left me with the blog. My elder sayed on as an administrator.

Then I settled on "Realized Millennialism" or amil and my pastor said I was wrong but that it was close to "realized preterism" which he is preaching on.

I also wrote lyrics, "Millennial Dreaming" to the tune of "California Dreaming" about escatology on my first Puritan Board blog.

Josh is dieting and so that may be why the food analogy.

I'm not sure really how you could be both amil and postmil since they differ in terms of the victory that the Church militant will have in the present age. Even optimistic amill folk don't believe in the postmil victory.

For me the difference is over a spiritual vs. physical manifestation. What I mean is like all things in a spiritual sense have now been placed under Christ's feet, I would take that emphasis as more or less an amill emphasis. But I also see a more or less physical manifestation of the this authority in a postmill christian world followed by Christ's second coming.
