I just wanted to post that I am leaving the PB for a while. I guess I do not exercise good judgment when I post threads here. I recently posted a question asking for help with some references for a paper I was working on and now today it would seem as though the thought is that I did not do the research myself, so what it amounts to is that I feel as though I was accused of academic fraud. Of course now I will not use any of the references cited and I will accept the consequences.

I also posted a thread in which I lashed out a my former employer the day after I was told I was being let go and of course I was let go sooner, because someone turned the post over to my employer. Again, I must not being using very sound judgment when I share here, so I think the best thing to do is not to post anymore.

I wish to thank you all and may the blessing of the Lord be bountiful in your lives and perhaps I will see you in the vineyards of our Lord.

Jeff, I looked up the thread that had your question.

Academic fraud? Not at all, especially if you acknowledge the help you got. A simple "thanks to many brothers who made useful suggestions for citations to look up" places use of the citations squarely within the realm of academic honesty.

It is only a problem if your assignment specifically said something like "do not ask for any kind of help from anyone else" or if there is some specific rule against going to people outside your school.

So use the cites and acknowledge the help. Every scholar does that.

I am sorry that some people evidently read this board with a "gotcha" pen in hand. Why is soliciting help online by asking a research question any less academically responsible than asking the reference librarian at the seminary the same questions? Methinks that some of your friends(?) may have their knickers in a bunch. The attitude they showed you does not comport well with the kind of qualities of maturity required for Gospel Ministry.

As to your post about your job, I didn't read it and cannot say whether you acted appropriately or not. My rule of thumb is never to say anything in print or to someone else that I would be unwilling to repeat to the person about whom the comment is made. Still, where do you find these "gotcha" pharisees intent upon demonstrating their righteousness at your expense?
