I did not want to hijack the other thread on tithing in chapel so I started a new thread.
How should a pastor tithe? Some were mentioning in the other thread that one should not tithe to the chapel, but rather to the church they were a member of. Should the same apply to a pastor? I ask because technically he is not a member of the local church, so should he tithe to the Presbytery?
How should a chaplain tithe? To a church that he is a member of that might have very little authority over him due to distance or to his endorser who (at least in reformed circles) is capable of performing discipline much better (an endorser can get you kicked out of the military in a matter of days if he really wanted to).
I think the chaplain scenario is more interesting (probably in part because I will be a chaplain), because it comes down to who trumps who: membership or authority?
