What is the best commentary on the Larger (and/or Shorter) Catechism? I have Waldron's excellent work on the BCF, but would like to have a good one or two on the WCF.

The best commentaries (it is difficult to prioritize these) on the WCF are A.A. Hodge, David Dickson (Truth's Victory Over Error), G.I. Williamson, Joey Pipa, and Robert Shaw's The Reformed Faith. If one wants a complete library on the WCF, one should also pick up Gordon Clark and R.C. Sproul (Truths We Confess). On the WLC, there are only three commentaries on it in existence: Thomas Ridgely, Johannes Vos, and Joseph Morecraft (Authentic Christianity). On the WSC, there are quite a few: Thomas Boston, Thomas Vincent, Alexander Whyte, G.I. Williamson, John Flavel

Tom,

I"m teaching through the Catechism and use resources found at Westminster Shorter Catechism Project
Specifically, Francis R. Beattie's "The Presbyterian Standards" (which is invaluable), Thomas Boston (they only have the first half), John Flavel, and Thomas Watcson.

Over at Google Books you'll find all the books of ShorterCatechism.com including the rest of Thomas Boston, A.A. Hodge's Commentary on the Confession of Faith, and John Brown's Essay Towards… Explication of the Assembly's Shorter Catechism (also invaluable).

While Gordon Clark's books aren't free ,his lectures are Trinity Foundation Online Store - MP3 Download Lectures

Finally I would add anything by Rowland S. Ward Books by Rowland S. Ward his "Study Guide to the Westminster Confession of Faith' was referenced in the OPC's report on Justification and the FV/NPP. Love it!
