Who are some of the best scholars who specialize in the Epistle of Romans? Prefer those living but can included those who have already passes away.

I would submit that one should always consult John Calvin on the books which he wrote commentaries. Romans and Psalms are two of his better efforts. In my humble opinion.

C. E. B. Cranfield's two volumes, published in 1975 and 1979, with him tinkering with them in minor ways ever since, are excellent, though somewhat dated now, and very well-written. His long essay at the end of volume 2 is, itself, worth the price. Cranfield, by the way, will be 99 in September.
