I must say that it is dangerous to grapple in polemics before you know what you believe and why, especially against a loosely defined area like the new perspective.

The point is that until you have a solid grasp of a topic, being vocally strident (polemical) about that topic is going to get you into some trouble from those that actually do have a solid grasp of the matters at hand. In other words, until you are confident about a particular topic, it is best to be a wee bit more tentative and irenic in discussing that topic.
